Our Technology
At Illume Eye Care, we pair personalised care with powerful technology to bring you the best in modern eye health. From early detection to tailored dry eye therapies, our clinic is equipped with advanced tools to precisely assess, monitor, and manage your vision and ocular comfort.
Wide-Field Retinal Photography
See the bigger picture—literally. This ultra-wide digital imaging captures up to 200° of the retina in a single image, allowing us to screen for signs of retinal disease, diabetes, hypertension, and more—without dilating your pupils in most cases.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Often described as an “MRI for the eye,” OCT is a non-invasive scan that provides detailed cross-sectional images of the retina and optic nerve. It’s essential for early detection and monitoring of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and other retinal conditions.
Anterior Segment Photography
This high-resolution imaging allows us to photograph the front of the eye—including the cornea, iris, and lens. It’s especially helpful for tracking changes in dry eye, contact lens complications, pterygium, and more—adding documentation and clarity to your care.
Meibography
The meibomian glands produce the essential oils that keep your tears stable. Meibography lets us visualise these glands in detail—helping diagnose meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), a leading cause of dry eye, and guiding targeted treatments like IPL, LipiFlow®, or therapeutic gland expression.
Advanced Tear Analysis
Your tears tell a story. Using cutting-edge tools, like the Oculus K5M, we assess tear quality, volume, evaporation rate, and more. These insights allow us to tailor treatments for dry eye and ocular surface disease based on what your eyes actually need.
Tear Film Osmolarity
Tear osmolarity is a key biomarker of dry eye disease. This quick, in-clinic test measures the salt concentration in your tears—helping us diagnose dry eye severity, track inflammation, and monitor treatment response with accuracy.
iCare Tonometer
A quick, gentle, puff-free way to accurately measure your eye pressure. It’s especially useful for glaucoma screening and patients who find traditional tonometry uncomfortable.
LipiFlow® Thermal Pulsation
LipiFlow® treats the root cause of evaporative dry eye by gently heating and massaging the meibomian glands to restore their natural oil flow. This in-office therapy is clinically proven to provide long-lasting symptom relief.
Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT)
Using light-based photobiomodulation, LLLT helps reduce inflammation and promote meibomian gland activity—supporting natural tear production and relieving stubborn dry eye symptoms. It's painless, relaxing, and clinically supported.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy
Originally used in dermatology, IPL is now a powerful treatment for dry eye. It targets inflammation and abnormal blood vessels on the eyelids, improving meibomian gland function and tear film quality with a series of gentle light pulses.
Tixel®-i
Tixel-i delivers precise thermal stimulation to the delicate eyelid skin to support meibomian gland rejuvenation and ocular surface healing. It’s a promising new treatment in the dry eye space—minimally invasive and effective for select patients.
