Introducing Illume Eye Care

We’ve created Illume Eye Care to meet a growing need in the eye care landscape—offering a dedicated space for advanced clinical optometry that complements, rather than competes with, existing practices. While optometry continues to evolve, there can be challenges accessing more highly specialised optometric care for conditions like dry eye disease, myopia management and complex contact lens needs.

Why Illume is Different

Like many health care professions, Optometry is evolving, and so are the needs of our patients. After over twenty years in Optometry in New Zealand, Adele Jefferies has created Illume Eye Care to meet that change—bridging the gap between standard eye exams and specialised, clinical care.

Illume Eye Care aims to elevate the standard of care for patients who need more than the standard eye exam—those whose conditions require extended time, targeted technologies, and tailored therapies. Inspired by global trends and guided by evidence-based innovation, we’ve invested in tools like IPL, LLLT, Osmolarity Testing, LipiFlow, Tixel-i, enhanced axial length tracking & reporting for myopia management, and advanced contact lens fitting to support the kind of outcomes that patients—and referrers—deserve.

Collaborative Care

This isn’t just about building something new. We work with many optometrists, general practitioners, ophthalmologists, dermatologists and pediatricians. If you are under another provider’s care and they can refer you to us and we will always provide them with clear reports, so your care is comprehensive across the people involved in your health care.

We welcome referrals to be involved in your care, but you are also able to individually book appointments with us for you or a family member.

You may want specific opinions on diagnosis, specific therapies we offer, our team to manage the care of your child’s myopia, or your dry eye, you may want expert advice on contact lenses or to have the freedom to take your glasses prescription to have flexibility in the style of glasses you choose.

While we don't sell eyewear, we work with many optometry practices, dispensing opticians and eyewear retailers and can even give you recommendations on where to visit for particular styles, brands or price points of frames and eyewear.
