Opti-Soothe® Moist Heat Mask – Warm & Cold Eye Compress

$29.95 NZD

One reusable eye mask, two ways to soothe your eyes.

The Opti-Soothe® Moist Heat Mask can be used warm for dry eye, meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), blepharitis, styes and chalazia — or chilled as a cooling eye compress for itchy, irritated or puffy eyes during allergy season.

Its HydroBead® technology absorbs moisture from the air and, when warmed, releases gentle, consistent moist heat. Used cold, the same comfortable mask provides soothing cooling therapy without the mess of a wet face cloth.

Why we like it

  • Warm or cold therapy – microwave for moist heat or chill in the freezer for a cooling eye compress
  • Dry eye & MGD – warmth helps soften thickened meibum and support healthy oil flow from the meibomian glands
  • Blepharitis, styes & chalazia – useful as part of regular eyelid and warm-compress care
  • Eye allergies – use cold to soothe itchy, irritated or uncomfortable eyes
  • Puffy eyes – cooling therapy can help calm and refresh the eye area
  • Contact lens irritation – a useful cold compress after lenses have been removed
  • Reusable & economical – an easy addition to your regular eye-care routine
  • Soft & comfortable – designed to sit comfortably over closed eyes

For Dry Eye, MGD & Eyelid Care — Use Warm

Warm compresses are commonly recommended for people with meibomian gland dysfunction, one of the most frequent contributors to evaporative dry eye.

Consistent warmth helps soften the oils within the meibomian glands so they can flow more freely onto the surface of the eye and support the tear film.

How to use warm:

  1. Microwave the mask for 25 seconds on full power, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Always check the temperature with your fingers before placing it over your eyes.
  3. If needed, allow it to cool and re-check before use.
  4. Apply over closed eyes for approximately 10 minutes.
  5. Follow with gentle eyelid massage or your recommended lid-cleaning routine if advised by your optometrist.

Do not heat for more than 30 seconds.

For Eye Allergies, Itching & Puffiness — Use Cold

Cold compresses can be particularly soothing when your eyes feel itchy, irritated, swollen or puffy, including during seasonal allergy and hay fever symptoms.

How to use cold:

  1. Place the mask inside a sealable plastic bag.
  2. Put it in the freezer for 30 minutes.
  3. Place over closed eyes for 5–7 minutes.

Cold therapy can also be useful for soothing the eyes after contact lens wear once the lenses have been removed.

Warm or Cold?

Choose warm if your main concern is:

  • Dry eye
  • Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD)
  • Blepharitis
  • Styes
  • Chalazia or blocked eyelid glands

Choose cold if your main concern is:

  • Eye allergies or hay fever
  • Itchy eyes
  • Puffy or swollen eyelids
  • General eye irritation
  • Discomfort after contact lens wear

If you are unsure whether heat or cold is best for your eyes, our optometrists can advise you based on the underlying cause of your symptoms.

Please Note

For external use only. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions supplied with the mask. Do not apply to open wounds or damaged skin. If eye symptoms are persistent, worsening, painful, associated with light sensitivity or affecting your vision, arrange an eye examination rather than relying on home treatment alone.
